Britain Votes to Exit EU; 76ers Take Ben Simmons in Draft; DNC Preparations in Philadelphia

Britain has decided to exit the European Union. Prime Minister David Cameron, who had led a campaign to keep Britain in the EU, said he would resign by October. The decision launches a prolonged process to renegotiate trade, business and political links between the United Kingdom and what will become a 27-nation bloc. It's viewed as an unprecedented divorce that could take decades to complete. The decision caps a bitterly divisive referendum campaign, toppling the government Friday, sending global markets plunging and shattering the stability of the EU project designed half a century ago to prevent World War III.

As expected, the Philadelphia 76ers have selected Ben Simmons with their number 1 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. Simmons, the highly touted prospect, spent one year at Louisiana State University before making the jump to the NBA. The Australian born Ben Simmons, stands 6'10" and was listed as a power forward in college, though most believe he can play a number of positions at the NBA level.

The Democratic National Convention is coming to Philadelphia. Protester-friendly demonstration areas are being set up in several locations. There will be restrictions on large trucks during the DNC. PennDOT announced commercial vehicles weighing more than five tons will not be allowed on an eight-mile stretch of I-95 for almost a week during the Democratic National Convention. That eight-mile stretch is between Exit 13 (I-76 West/Route 291/Valley Forge) and Exit 22 (I-676). The restriction will be from Saturday, July 23 at 12 noon until midday Friday, July 29.
