25-year-old Folcroft Police Officer Christopher Dorman is recovering well at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in West Philadelphia after being shot 7 times on Friday. In a video released on Saturday he thanked everyone for supporting him. "I'd like to thank all the police, paramedics and doctors, and hey Kenny, don't forget me," he said. Dorman was supposed to attend Saturday night's Kenny Chesney concert at Lincoln Financial Field. Apparently, Kenny did give him a shoutout, but may have mistakenly said that Dorman passed away. He's alive and well, talking and sitting up. A candlelight vigil was held for his recovery on Saturday evening in Folcroft.

A body of a man was found in a creek in Norristown on Saturday night. The body was discovered around 8:30 p.m. floating in the Stony Creek just off the Schuylkill River near the intersection of West Airy and Markley Streets. Fire crews were working to retrieve the body and police are beginning their investigation. No word on an identity or cause of death.

The mother of a 4-year-old girl who was shot and killed Thursday in North Philadelphia has been charged with her murder and its coverup. 25-year-old Shakeya Holmes is charged with third-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, concealing evidence, possession of an instrument of crime, and related offenses. It happened around 12:30 p.m. on the 1800 block of North 20th Street. The child shot herself in the head with a .40-caliber semiautomatic handgun she found in a second floor closet. Holmes brought the child to the front porch and told police that she had fallen from the second floor and then told them she was hit by a stray bullet. After an investigation, police found the weapon placed back in the closet. Her boyfriend, Demetrius Williams, is also charged in the case.

Sports
The cousin of Sixers #1 draft pick Ben Simmons was killed in a hit-and-run in Hoboken, NJ early Saturday morning. 21-year-old Zachary Simmons of Ramsey, NJ, is Ben's first cousin. Ben grew up in Australia but his father, David, is from the Bronx. The accident happened around 3:30 a.m. on Willow Avenue at Sixth Street. Police are looking for a large black SUV, like a Yukon, Tahoe or Escalade with New York plates.
