Chaka Fattah, the once powerful Philadelphia congressman, resigned in disgrace last week after his racketeering conviction. Now, a national taxpayer watchdog group says Fattah should be stripped of his pension, because of a no-pensions-for-felons law. "Congressman Fattah could be the first lawmaker to be deprived of his pension under ethics laws that were enacted in 2007 and 2012," said Pete Sepp, president of the National Taxpayers Union.

With Philadelphia public schools out for summer, several local agencies are working to fill the food gap for children who rely on school breakfast and lunch. The Philadelphia Housing Authority, Parks and Rec, the Archdiocese, and other providers form a safety net for children and families faced with food shortages during the summer months. The Hunger Coalition has an interactive map on its website to help families find places near them that are serving lunch, breakfast, and snacks through the summer. You can find the map athttp://www.hungercoalition.org/summermeals/map. Or you can call their hotline at 855-252-6325

PennDOT is placing some restrictions on I-95 traffic during the Democratic National Convention. PennDOT's Gene Blaum says the restriction is part of a security plan for the week of the DNC. 95 between Exit 13, down by International Airport, and Exit 22, the Vine Street Expressway, will be off limits for vehicles weighing over 5-tons. Blaum says 109 electronic message signs will be used to get the word out, beginning more than a week before the convention. The restriction will be effective from Saturday July 23rd at noon to Friday July 29th at about the same time.
