SEPTA announced contingency plans today to deal with the reduced Regional Rail fleet due to emergency repairs on around one third of the cars. SEPTA will operate on a modified Saturday schedule Monday - Friday until further notice. Extra trains will be added during rush hours. The Market-Frankford Line, Broad Street Line and Norristown High Speed Line will also have enhancements during rush. Parking options will be expanded at AT&T Station, Naval Hospital and Franklin Transportation Center. Officials say that this week will be the worst for commuters as everyone figures out their travel arrangements around the new schedules. You can find updated information at http://www.septa.org/service/contingency.html

Joey "Jaws" Chestnut regained the Mustard Yellow International Belt on Monday, beating Matt "Megaton" Stonie at the annual Nathan's Famous Fourth of July hot dog eating contest at Coney Island in Brooklyn, NY. Chestnut downed 70 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes, Stonie ate 17 fewer. Chestnut's streak of 8 straight victories was upset last year by Stonie. Joey owns the world record 73 ½ hot dogs and buns set last month in a qualifying events. Miki Sudo won the women's competition with 38 ½. Sonya "Black Widow" Thomas came in second eating 34. Both winners take home a $10,000 prize.

Authorities in Delaware are looking for a man wanted for the attempted abductions of two women in separate incidents hours apart overnight last night in Newark. Both happened on the 300 block of East Main Street. The first was at 11:20 pm Sunday as a 28-year-old University of Delaware student was unloading her car at the Colonial Gardens. She was grabbed from behind and had a chemical-soaked rag placed on her mouth. She was able to fight off the attacker who ran away. The second happened at 3:34 a.m. Monday at Main Towers. The suspect grabbed a 61-year-old woman as she got out of her car and also tried to put a chemical-soaked rag on her mouth. She was able to fight off the attacker as well. Police say the suspect is a white man, in his early 20's, 5' 7", with a thin build. Newark Police are asking anyone with information about the incidents or the suspect to contact Detective James Skinner at 302-366-7100 ext. 3135, or to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
