Center City Protest Snarl; Deadly NJ Boat Crash; Giuliani Calls Black Lives Matter Racist

Traffic around City Hall was stopped this morning. Two groups, Black Lives Matter and a white support group, disrupted traffic with a protest rally around City Hall at 8 this morning causing gridlock between the Vine Street Expressway and City Hall. Black Lives Matter and a group of white supporters called Showing Up For Racial Justice are planning to continue the peaceful protests that took place in Philadelphia and around the country over the weekend.

Two boats collided on a bay in South Jersey yesterday, leaving one man dead. State police say the incident unfolded in the Oyster Creek Channel on Barnegat Bay Sunday afternoon when a 36-foot speed boat collided with a 16-foot Carolina Skiff boat, sending three people into the water. 26-year-old Chan-Hee Kang of Hainesport was operating the skiff boat and was killed in the crash. Another passenger on the skiff boat was taken to a hospital for minor injuries.

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is being criticized after calling the term "black lives matter" ''inherently racist." During a Sunday appearance on CBS' "Face the Nation," Giuliani went on to say "black lives matter. White lives matter. Asian lives matter. Hispanic lives matter. That's anti-American and it's racist." Giuliani also said back children face a greater threat from other black children than from police. And "the real danger to them 99 out of 100 times ... are other black kids who are going to kill them. That's the way they're going to die."

Philadelphia Weather
