Organizers of the Democratic National Convention offered a sneak peak of a transformed Wells Fargo arena and stage on Friday, three days before the convention starts. Around the arena, 10-foot-long bags with thousands of inflated balloons sat waiting to be hung, producers milled about, and a police K9 took a lap around the blue carpeted floor. The LED screen wall is one of the largest in the world. Parts of the stage spin, allowing the look of it to change moment-to-moment.

Is it hot enough for you? At 95 degrees, today is the coolest day for at least the next 5 days. An excessive heat watch is in effect for the weekend with heat indexes clearing 100 degrees. Limit your outdoor activity. Evenings are best for outdoor parties or concerts. And drink plenty of fluids.

A Chester County woman charged in the kidnapping of a newborn baby inside the King of Prussia Mall, intends to plead insanity in the case. Cherie Amoore, 32, is accused of taking a seven-week-old baby boy from his mother in the mall’s food court, in April. The charges against her include felony kidnapping and unlawful restraint.
