Mississippi State Flag Removed; South Philly Enjoying the DNC; Police SUV Vandalized

Philadelphia has removed Mississippi's state flag from a lamppost after a group of about 50 protesters sat in a roadway while marching down Philadelphia's Broad Street ahead of the Democratic convention. The flag includes the Confederate emblem. The city started to receive complaints from residents since the flags went back up as part of re invigoration efforts of the so-called Avenue of the States ahead of the convention. The flags of all 50 states fly from light poles flanking Broad Street.

The first day of the convention brought curious neighbors out of their homes on a very hot day. Police put South Philly neighbors in a good mood blocking off side streets from convention foot traffic and protesters looking for parking. They also opened hydrants for people braving the heat to make their voices heard.

A photo of a Philadelphia Police SUV parked in the middle of a street with a long, squiggly line of red paint along the passenger's side has been circulating around social media today. The Police SUV was parked on South Broad Street along one of the main protest routes Monday afternoon when it was vandalized..

Tonight the Phillies are in Miami with the Marlins.
