A driver struck a Philadelphia Fire Department truck in Center City Sunday evening knocking down a street light. According to officials, the incident occurred at 7:01 p.m. on 23rd and Market Streets. Ladder 9 was responding to a call when they were T-boned by a 2016 Porsche SUV driven by a 35-year-old white female. The fire truck then knocked down a street light and a PPA kiosk before coming to rest against the side of the PECO building. No injuries were reported and the crash was not the result of a DUI.

A 5-year-old was shot inside a Germantown home Sunday evening. The incident occurred inside a private home in the 1300 block of Rittenhouse Street at 6:20pm. According to officials, a 5-year-old black male suffered a gunshot wound to his left hand. He was taken by private vehicle to Einstein Hospital and placed in stable condition. No one has been arrested; however the weapon has been recovered. Police say at this time the shooting seems accidental.

Pennsylvania's cigarette tax went up by a buck per pack today, giving smokers one more reason to quit or cross the border. The tax, headed to $2.60 from $1.60, will push the price of a pack above $7, the largest single increase on the state's smokers since Pennsylvania first imposed a cigarette excise tax in 1935. For Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf and the Republican-controlled Legislature, it was the biggest step so far toward addressing a long-term deficit that has badly damaged Pennsylvania's credit rating.

Philadelphia Weather
Scattered thunderstorms today. 85 in Center City.
