Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump met with African American leaders in North Philadelphia this afternoon. The roundtable meeting was held at The View at 800 N. Broad Street. The reception hall is affiliated with Greater Exodus Baptist Church. 14 African-American business, civic and religious leaders attended the private meeting. Trump has increased his outreach to minorities recently. Polling numbers have shown that he is significantly behind Democrat Hillary Clinton, especially among black voters. Trump asks why would the inner city continue to vote Democrat when they haven't made changes for decades. Recently he has stated he wants the GOP to be 'the home of the African-America voter.' Outside of the closed meeting there were around a dozen anti-Trump protestors and a large police presence. At one point there was a small scuffle between a Trump supporter and another protestor.

Tropical Storm Warnings are in effect for Delaware and South Jersey beaches as Tropical Storm Hermine makes its way up the coast this weekend. It is expected to be off the mid-Atlantic coast by Saturday night and stall off the Jersey shore Sunday and Monday. Coastal areas could expect high winds, rough surf, rip currents, and coastal flooding. Any rain amounts will drop off sharply the further from the coast you are, depending on the ultimate track of the storm. The storm may also re-intensify to a hurricane once it gets back out to the Atlantic Ocean. Philadelphia will see some gusty winds and some rain, more so if the storm stays closer to the coast. See map below. National Weather Service Statement.

Collegeville police were called on Thursday because an alligator was found walking down the street. Police Officer Matt Cubbler responded at 8:45 a.m. to the 200 block of Freeland Drive. The son of the woman who called had used a lacrosse stick to get the animal into a small dog crate. He had spotted the animal crossing the road. Cubbler said the alligator was almost 2 feet long. It was turned over to animal control. It is not illegal to own an alligator in Pennsylvania but it is illegal to release one into the wild.
