A Philadelphia Police officer has been placed on restricted duty after he shot his son twice during an altercation inside his Northeast Philadelphia home earlier this week. 24-year veteran Officer Dorion Young was off-duty on Monday, September 5th, when the incident happened at 6:30 p.m. in the 2700 block of Taunton Street. Police say Young and his 19-year-old son got into an argument that escalated to a physical confrontation. At some point, Young fired his .40 caliber pistol twice, striking his son both times in the abdomen/back. He was taken to Aria Hospital and his in critical condition. No charges have been filed and police are still trying to determine if the shots were fired intentionally or accidentally. The victim's girlfriend and the officer's younger son were also in the house at the time and have been interviewed.

Firefighters responded to a vacant house in the Cobbs Creek neighborhood early this afternoon for a partial roof collapse. It happened around 12:15 p.m. on the 6000 block of Locust Street. Part of the roof and the second floor wall had given way. There were bricks and debris on the sidewalk adjacent to the end unit row house. No one was injured. Inspectors for L&I are checking neighboring homes and trying to determine what caused the collapse.

Police are investigating after a woman was found shot in Trenton on Friday morning. It happened at 11:30 a.m. in the 200 block of Spring Street. Police found the woman shot in the stomach in the street. Medics attempted to treat her for her wounds but she died a short time later. Investigators are now trying to determine who shot her and why.
