The Wordsworth Academy in the Wynnefield section of Philadelphia announced Monday that it is now shutting down its Residential Treatment Program after a teen died when he got into an altercation with staff members. The incident took place on Thursday October 13th. The faculty started searching the teen's room which led to an altercation between staff members and the teen. Police stated that during the altercation the staff tried to gain control of the teen, which ended up making the teen loose consciousness and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not declared this a homicide, and are waiting for results from the medical examiner to see if the teen had any pre-existing conditions.

Police are now searching for a suspect who was driving a stolen car and tried to run over a bicycle cop in the Kensington Section of Philadelphia. The incident happened at around 9:45 pm on the 1800 block of East Russell Street. The man hit the officer and continued to drive down Ontario Street, before he ditched the car and took off on foot. The officer was only knocked off of his bike, and has no reported injuries. Police are still searching for the suspect.

The PA State Senate has now passed legislation that will allow state-wide authorization for ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft. The bill was successfully passed on Monday by the Senate and is on its way to be signed by Governor Tom Wolf who is very happy about the newly passed bill. The ride-sharing services were banned within city limits for a couple of weeks due to their temporary authorization expiring at the end of September. Lyft has released a statement expressing their happiness at the decision of the State Senate.
