Two Men Charged In Street Racing Death, Person Stuck and Killed by Train, AC Mayor Threatens Lawsuit

Police have now arrested two men in connection with a street racing incident that killed a 3-year-old girl in the Kensington section of Philadelphia back in early August. Twenty-three-year-old Hector Torres Jr, and a Seventeen-year-old boy have been placed in police custody. Police say that the Seventeen-year-old driver was racing Torres down 2nd Street back on August 6th, when the Seventeen-year-old struck a family's car, throwing three-year-old Esther Palmer from the car. She was rushed to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children where she was pronounced dead. Both men were charged with involuntary manslaughter as well as many other charges.

A person was struck and killed on the Media/Elywn Regional Rail line this evening, which resulted in the suspension of service on the line. The incident happened at around 4:30 pm Tuesday evening, when someone was struck at the Angora Station on the 100 Block of 58th Street. There is still no exact detail on why they were struck, or how it happened. Police are still continuing to investigate the incident. This caused even more delays to SEPTA, as the Regional Rail line is one of the only services running due to the city-wide strike.

After New Jersey's Department of Community Affairs has shown their disapproval for Atlantic City's 5-year Budget Plan, the state will most likely plan to take over the city's day to day municipal operations. But Atlantic City Don Guardian disagrees with the decision, and says the DCA made errors in their assessment, and will be re-submitting a new plan this coming Thursday. If the DCA does not approve the budget after the new plan, the Local Finacne Board could decide to take over municipal operations. Guardian stated that he will sue if a takeover becomes the outcome. So far there is no word on the situation from Governor Chris Christie.
