With the third day of the SEPTA Strike here many citizens are hoping that the union and SEPTA officials will be able to reach an agreement so they can get back to their normal daily commutes. Congressman Bob Brady confirmed Wednesday night that SEPTA and union members are making progress. The two groups have been using a mediator as well as State Rep. Dwight Evans to assist in the proceedings. The settlement between the two will have to be within SEPTA's budget constraints. Brady stated that the pension issue still remains a problem between union members and SEPTA officials.

Philadelphia Police responded to a call last night of a shooting that took place in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. A 22-year old man was shot and critically injured just before 5 pm at the intersection of Chelten Avenue and Greene Street. Police say that the man was shot twice in the leg. The man was rushed to Einstein Medical Center in critical condition. So far there is no word of any arrests made, or any motive for the shooting. Police are continuing the investigation.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf has now signed a set of bills that focuses on battling the states heroin and opioid epidemic. Among the bills that were put into action, one of them would limit the amount of opioid prescriptions given out to minors in the state. Another would prohibit emergency rooms as well as urgent care centers from giving opioid prescriptions that would last more than seven days. Physicians would also start using a drug monitoring database before prescribing opioid drugs.
