LaBelle, Gamble and Huff Get Marian Anderson Award; NJ Woman Stabbed; Franklin's Grave Needs Repair

Several Philadelphia music legends will be honored tonight at the Kimmel Center. Singer Patti LaBelle and producers Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff will be receiving the Marian Anderson Award. The Marian Anderson Award honors critically acclaimed artists who have impacted society in a positive way, either through their work or their support for an important cause. Past winners include Harry Belafonte, Gregory Peck, Dame Elizabeth Taylor, Quincy Jones, Danny Glover, Oprah Winfrey, Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis, Sidney Poitier, Richard Gere, Maya Angelou and Norman Lear, Bill Cosby, Mia Farrow, James Earl Jones, Berry Gordy, Jon Bon Jovi and Wynton Marsalis.

A woman is in critical condition after being stabbed multiple times in Mt Holly, NJ last night. It happened just before midnight on the unit block of Monroe St. The 37-year-old woman was flown to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton for treatment. The Burlington County Prosecutors Office says it appears to be a case of domestic violence. The victim and suspect used to be together, but he had moved out months ago. An argument last night became violent. Their names have not been released. So far no arrests have been made, but the suspect has been identified.

Ben Franklin's gravestone in Philadelphia is in need of repair. The simple marble slab at 5th and Arch at Christ's Church in Old City has sustained damage over the years since Franklin's death in 1790. Part of the problem is the tradition of throwing pennies on the site. The larger cracks are the work of moisture seeping in. It will cost $76,000 to repair. The Christ Church Preservation Trust has already raised $66,000. They have setup a GoFund page to get the rest.
