The 23rd Annual Philadelphia Marathon was held on Sunday that brought out tens of thousands of runners to run the city-wide course in the windy and cold weather. Around 30,000 runners crossed the starting line starting at 7 am Sunday, beginning their 26.2 mile run starting at Eakins Oval, down the parkway to Race Street, then along the Delaware River to Chestnut, then through Kelly Drive to Manayunk, finishing up at Ben Franklin Parkway. The winner of the men's race was Kimutai Cheruiyot from Kenya finishing in 2 hours and 15 minutes. The winner of the women's race was Taylor Ward from Utah. Race Officials say that despite the cold and high winds, runners finished the race in record time.

An American Airlines flight departing from Philadelphia International Airport to Cincinnati on Sunday was stopped due to a report of smoke being in the cabin of the plane. The plane was set to take off at around 4 pm when the cabin filled up with a light smoke. This is when the pilots decided to turn the plane around and evacuate the passengers, where they were then put on another plane. Officials have stated that the plane was taken out of service, and that they are currently investigating the cause of the smoke.

Philadelphia Police are now investigating a possible robbery that took place in City Hall on Sunday. The incident took place at 12 pm on Sunday when a worker saw two men attempting to climb through a window on the first floor of the building on South Broad Street. City Hall security and police were called onto the scene where they searched for the suspects. It is still not clear if anything was taken or damaged, and the worker was not able to give a description of the suspects. Police have stated they will continue to review the surveillance video.
