A man was pulled from the Schuylkill River late Saturday morning. The 39-year-old was found floating in the river near the Market Street bridge on the University City side just before 10 am. He was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:59 a.m. His identity has not been released. Police are investigating how the man ended up in the river.

A drunk driver heading the wrong way on a road in New Jersey crashed head-on with a police cruiser early Saturday morning. It happened around 1:45 a.m. Saturday on westbound Route 70 between Ranoldo Terrace and Kingston Drive in Cherry Hill. The female driver was heading eastbound in the westbound lanes. The police officer was behind another car when that vehicle swerved to avoid the car coming the wrong way. The police officer did not have enough time to avoid the collision. The officer and the woman were both taken to Cooper University Hospital for treatment for non life-threatening injuries. The female was ticketed and charged with driving while intoxicated. The identities of the officer and driver have not been released.

A man was discovered dead of a self-inflicted gun shot wound after a nearly 5 hour barricade situation in Upper Roxborough, Philadelphia, on Saturday morning. Philadelphia police were called to the first block of River Road at around 5:15 a.m. after neighbors heard gunshots. When police arrived they heard more shots and saw a muzzle flash in the front. SWAT and Fire were also on the scene. They did a sweep of the area and evacuated two dozen homes. The Marine Unit checked the river. SEPTA's Manayunk/Norristown line was shut down and the Schuylkill River Trail was closed. They tried to make contact several times with anyone inside. At about 10 a.m., the police sent in a robot with a camera through a window. They found the man dead. The 54-year-old has not been identified. Police discovered a large cache of registered firearms in the house.
