The Wilmington Fire Department has announced funeral arrangements for fallen Senior Firefighter Ardythe Hope. A public viewing will be held on December 10th from 10 a.m. to Noon, with a full firefighter funeral at 1 pm. The family will hold a reception after the service. It will take place at the Chase Center on the Riverfront, located at 815 Justison Street in Wilmington. Hope is the third firefighter to die in connection to an arson blaze on September 24th on the 1900 Block of Lakeview Road. Lt. Lieutenant Christopher Leach and Senior Firefighter Jerry Fickes also died in the fire. Hope had been in critical condition in the hospital fighting to recover from serious burns. Beatriz Fana-Ruiz, a resident of the home, has already been charged with two counts of murder in the first degree, assault and arson. Another count of murder is expected.

Camden police have apprehended a suspected serial rapist wanted for attacking a woman last weekend. 29-year-old Andre D. Wesley of Willingboro is charged with attempted murder, aggravated sexual assault, kidnapping and robbery. Last Sunday afternoon, he convinced a woman to get into his van. He took her to a secluded area where he sexually assaulted her, brutalized her, and left her. Police put out surveillance video of the van and a sketch. Friday night, police searched his home on the unit block of Elmwood Court. Wesley was watching them from nearby and returned when he thought the police had left, however, a few remained guard. Wesley was armed with a knife and there was a tense standoff. The officers showed restraint and did not shoot, but used a tazer to bring him down. Investigators are now working to see if he is connected to any other attacks in the area. Bail is set at $2 million.

A Philadelphia man who fired his weapon at another driver during rush hour on the Blue Route won't have to worry about traffic for the next few years. 51-year-old Anthony Richardson of the 2300 block of Pennington Road was sentenced to 3 - 6 years in state prison after pleading guilty to aggravated assault. Charges of attempted murder and reckless endangerment were dropped in the plea arraingment. It happened on May 5, 2016. The victim, a Bucks County man, and Richardson were traveling north on I-476 nearing the I-76 interchange in the area of West Conshohocken. Richardson was tailgating the victim. The victim saw that and tapped his brakes. That's when Richardson pulled up alongside him and shot into the passenger door. The bullet went through the door and into the center console. Prosecutor John Gradel said, “They were traveling in excess of 70 mph, so it could have been much, much worse.”
