The Phillies have now signed center fielder Odubel Herrera to a five-year contract that will last through the 2021 season. The Phillies acquired Herrera back in 2014 in the Rule 5 draft from of the Texas Rangers. This past 2016 season Herrera batted a .286 ERA, with 21 doubles, six triples, 15 home runs, 87 runs and 25 stolen bases. Herrera also was selected to be on the National League All-Star team. Herrera's five-year contract guarantees him $30.5 million for the next five seasons. The deal also includes club options for the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

The 76ers will be hosting Allen Iverson Hall Of Fame night tonight as they take on the Los Angeles Lakers. Iverson was inducted into the National Basketball Hall Of Fame this past September and is being honored by fellow Hall Of Famer Julius "Dr. J" Erving. R&B singer Sevyn Streeter will be singing the National Anthem at tonight's game. Streeter was supposed to perform "The Star Spangled Banner" on opening night October 26th in Philly, but was told last minute she could not perform due to the T-Shirt she was wearing. She will return to the Wells Fargo Center Friday night and will be wearing the same "We Matter" jersey. Iverson is reported to address the media before the game. The game is going to be televised on ESPN starting at 8pm.

Redskins safety Deshazor Everett has been fined $48,000 for two special teams penalties that happened on Sunday's game against the Eagles. One of the penalties included the fierce impact with Eagles' running back Darren Sproles during the fourth quarter when Sproles was attempting to catch a punt return. Everett was also fined for another blindside block during the Redskin's punt return. Both of the fines costed Everett $24,000. Everett stated he is trying to get them appealed saying "Some people want to say I'm a dirty player, but I know I'm not a dirty player, Anybody that knows me knows the type of person that I am. I just play the game physically. I'm not the biggest guy out there, so it's not like I'm out there just taking shots on everybody. I'm just out there playing football the way I grew up playing football."
