A hazing incident last year involving former Conestoga High School football players has been settled in juvenile court. Three players admitted to a criminal summary offense of harassment, all other charges were dropped. The incident happened in October 2015. The three seniors were accused of holding down a freshman and violating him with a broom handle for not cleaning the locker room. In March 2016, they were charged with assault, unlawful restraint, making terroristic threats and related offenses. A statement released today says that the victim was not harmed and only briefly poked in the leg with a broom handle. The school district's internal investigation found other incidents of hazing and removed the entire football staff. The head coach also resigned.

A husband and father of four is in serious condition and one of two suspects is dead after the homeowner defended his family from a home invasion robbery on Monday night in Frankford. It happened around 11:15 p.m. on the 1900 block of Pratt Street. The 27-year-old man had just returned home with his wife and four daughters, ages 4 to 5 months. His wife took the girls upstairs to bed when there was a knock on the front door. Two armed men forced their way inside. There was a struggle and the homeowner was shot in the mouth and leg. He managed to shoot back and hit one of the suspects in the head, killing him. The other suspect ran off. Police are looking at surveillance footage from the block. The man is currently at Hahnemann University Hospital. The wife and children were unharmed.
