Wednesday night Villanova lost to Butler 58-66 making this the first loss all season and ending a 20-game win streak for the Wildcats. With No. 18 Butler beating No. 1 Villanova it extends a 12 home game winning streak and it is the second time in school history the team has beaten a top ranked team. Jalen Brunson put up 23 points over the game, and Josh Hart scored 13 points, during a tough night of shooting for the Wildcats, and their first loss since a 67-69 loss to Seton Hall in the Big East championship game last March. Head coach Jay Wright stated "It wasn't one thing here or there. It's just that over the course of the game, hitting the shot here, making the extra pass there, they just did a better job than us. I credit their defense for that. I think they did a very good job defensively." Next up the Wildcats take on Marquette on Saturday.

According to multiple reports the Sixers have decided to waive guard/forward Hollis Thompson. Thompson has spent the last 3 seasons with the Sixers after he was undrafted from Georgetown University. Thompson is in the final year of his 4-year deal that would have become guaranteed on January 10th. During his career on the Sixers, Thompson is a 38.9% three point shooter, and has career averages of 7.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists. If Thompson does get waived and moved to another team it would open up time for more players such as rookie Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot.

The Flyers lost to the New York Rangers Wednesday night 2-5 in the Flyers first home game after the holiday season. Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist had an amazing game as he blocked 30 shots and helped lead the Rangers to a win and give the Flyers their 5th straight loss. The Flyers have lost 7 out of their 8 games since a 10-game win streak nearly two weeks ago. Jake Voracek was the only Flyer to score last night. He put up both goals. Flyers Capitan Claude Giroux stated "It's frustrating right now, I don't think we're playing that bad of hockey; we just need to find a way." The Flyers take on the Lightning this Saturday.
