Phillies Sign Michael Saunders; Penn State Hockey No. 1; Villanova 47th Straight Win At Home

The Phillies have now announced they have signed All-Star outfielder Michael Saunders to a one-year $9 million contract. The contract also features a club option worth $11 million, which could also increase to $14 million. Philly officials stated that Saunders is expected to take his physical with the Phillies in the next day or two. Saunders hit an impressive 24 home runs last season for the Blue Jays, as well as hitting a .298 average, when he won the All-Star Spot.

Penn State Men's Hockey has now been ranked No. 1 in the nation for the first time in the program's history. Penn State's hockey team, who this season has gone 16-2-1, received 30 first place votes after beating No. 4 Michigan State over the weekend. Next up for the Nittany Lions, they take on No. 11 Ohio State on Friday and Saturday.

The Wildcats came out strong Monday night against Seton Hall sealing a victory over the Pirates 76-46. Villanova who is 18-1 (6-1 in the Big East) sealed their 47th win at home last night at the Pavillion, reaching a new school record. Kris Jenkins led five players in double figures last night and had 16 points. Jalen Brunson had 13 points and 6 assists, and Josh Hart had 11 points. The Wildcat's defense played a pivotal role against Seton Hall holding them to 29% from the field and 25% from three. Next up the Wildcats take on Providence this Saturday.
