Sixers Beat Raptors; Schilling Out Again In MLB HOF; Ben Simmons Possible Start After All-Star Break

The Sixers pulled it together again Wednesday night and sealed a 94-89 win over the Raptors. The Sixers of course had help from new rising star and fan favorite Joel Embiid who put up 26 points in the game. Embiid, who has been fighting the flu the past couple of weeks, put up 20 points in only 30 minutes, doing this for the 10th game straight. Embiid also entered the court to a thunderous applause and cheering from the fans, many of them chanting "MVP" and "Trust the Process." Embiid stated "I'm trying to change the culture and I like to get the fans into it, I play better when the fans are chanting and cheering for us. That's what I love. The fans have been great." Also putting up points for the Sixers was Power Forward Ersan Ilyasova who added 18 points. Next up, the Sixers take on the Trail Blazers on Friday.

The MLB Hall of Fame Class of 2017 was announced and left out of the group again this year is former Phillies pitcher Curt Schilling. Schilling was able to amount 45 percent of the votes, 30 percent shy of the 75 needed to be inducted. Schilling stated recently that the inductee voters would not vote for him due to his conservative views, mainly for President-Elect Donald Trump. In a recent interview he stated "I promise you if I had said, 'Lynch Trump,' I would be getting in with about 90 percent of the vote this year." Former Phillies Matt Stairs, Pat Burrell and Arthur Rhodes were all on the ballot for the first time this year, but did not receive at least 5 percent of the vote.

Sixers rookie forward Ben Simmons could be making his NBA debut shortly after the NBA All-Star weekend sources say. Simmons' debut was cut early after he fractured his foot during training camp, but sources say that his foot is fully healed now and was participating in 5 on 5 drills for the first time at practice last week. Sixers officials are working on bringing in their 1st round draft pick in a cautionary way. The teaming up of Simmons and rising center Joel Embiid could bring the Sixers to a new height of playing ability.
