Embiid Not In All-Star Starting Line-up; Phillies Prospect #9 First Basemen; Sixers vs Trail Blazers

The NBA All-Star Votes came to an end and it turns out that Sixers star Joel Embiid will not be joining the starting squad for the Eastern Conference. Although he will not be a starter, that does not mean the end of the line for Embiid, the reserve players for the All-Star game will be announced next Thursday. With no traditional center on the roster for the team, Embiid will certainly be in the conversation of being picked. The starting lineup for the Eastern Conference consist of Kyrie Irving, Demar Derozan, Jimmy Butler, LeBron James, and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Phillies top prospect Rhys Hoskins has been ranked the ninth best first base top prospect on MLB's 2017 prospect watch list. Last season with the Reading Phillies, Hoskins put in a .281/.377/.566 average, with 38 home runs and 116 RBI's in 135 games. Prospects are also graded on a 20-80 scale (20-30 is well below average, 40 is below average, 50 is average, 60 is above average, and 70-80 is well above average). Hoskins has received an overall grade of 50, his highest grade being a 55. It is still unsure when Hoskins will come up to the big leagues as Tommy Joseph will be taking over for Ryan Howard this upcoming season.

The Sixers take on the struggling Trail Blazers tonight. The Trail Blazers are coming off of 3 straight losses as the Sixers have won 5 of the past 6 games, and 7 of the past 9. The Sixers will be facing off against one of the NBA's top young guards, point guard Damien Lillard, and shooting guard C.J. McCollum. The Sixers continue to limit star center Joel Embiid to 28 minutes a game after he has missed two seasons due to recovering from a pair of foot surgeries. The Blazers have stated that their team needs to be more consistent if they want to win more games later on. The Sixers hope that they can seal another victory tonight.
