Soul Holds Open Tryouts; Phillies Prospect Ranked 3rd Catcher; Joel Embiid Injures Left Knee

The Philadelphia Soul held an open try-out to the public on Sunday at the Nova-Care Complex in Philadelphia. More than 150 players came out to the complex to try-out for the AFL championship team. The Owner of the Soul and former Eagle Ron Jaworski stated that he loves holding open try-out's, saying that you never know what talent is out there. "Much like many years ago when Vince Papale, Mr. Invincible, tried out and made the Philadelphia Eagles, we've kind of taken that recipe since we've been in existence, we've had these open tryout camps." Players that make the cut will be invited to a camp to fight for a spot on the team.

The Philadelphia Phillies have the number 3 top catcher prospect for 2017. Catcher Jorge Alfaro was picked up by the Phillies in 2015 after they traded away Cole Hamels. Alfaro has an overall grade of 55 out of 80, and a 70 on his arm grade which is considered well above average. MLB Pipeline stated "There is still work to be done in terms of his pitch selection and plate discipline, which will enable him to tap into that plus raw power more consistently, but he continues to show the ability to drive the ball to all fields."

It appears the Sixers will possibly be without their star Center Joel Embiid for the next two games after he injured his left knee during a Sixers' victory over the Trail Blazers on Friday. Sixers Coach Brett Brown stated that there is a 75 percent chance that Embiid won't play against the Clippers on Tuesday.
