Citizen Bank Branches Closing and Laying Off

Citizens Bank's plans to close nine Philadelphia-area branches and lay off 250 employees has been detailed in a recent filing.

Citizens said it would be consolidating a Broomall location in the Acme Supermarket at 1991 Sproul Road into a branch in the Lawrence Park Shopping Center. It will also be consolidating its Flourtown site from 1461 Bethlehem Pike into a Bethlehem Pike and East Mill Road branch.

In addition, Citizens said it would be closing the following locations:

• 2929 Arch St. in the Cira Centre building in West Philadelphia.

• 6901 Ridge Avenue located in a ShopRite in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia.

• 1777 Sentry Park West in Blue Bell, Montgomery County.

• 1065 West County Line Road in Hatboro, Montgomery County.

• 100 MacDade Boulevard in Holmes, Delaware County, at an Acme.

• 110 Black Horse Pike Audubon, N.J.

The ninth branch closing is believed to be located in Delaware, as Citizens said last month the affected sites included seven in Pennsylvania and one each in New Jersey and Delaware.

Citizens also filed to close locations in York and Erie.

Citizens said in a statement last month that the closures were due partly to the increasing popularity of mobile and online banking changing branch traffic patterns.
