Top 50 NBA Rising Stars; Pelicans Talk Trade For Okafor; Flyers Lose In Second Shutout

ESPN will be releasing the top 50 rising stars in the NBA of 2016-2017 season over the next 10 days, leading up to the Rising Stars Challenge during the All-Star Weekend. Numbers 50-41 were released today, and Sixers rising center Jahlil Okafor was ranked at number 43. Okafor has the fourth highest points per game at 15.1, he also has the second most points scored by a 76er since being drafted. There are many speculations of who will be at the No. 1 spot, many are hopeful for Sixers favorite Joel Embiid. #NBArank Rising Stars: Nos. 41-50

The New Orleans Pelicans are now in the advances of talking with the Philadelphia 76ers to acquire Jahlil Okafor. The trade agreement would be, the Pelicans receive Okafor and will give the Sixers their backup center Alexis Ajinca as well as receiving the Pelicans future first round pick. Sources say that the Sixers have been searching for a future first round pick in exchange for Okafor. Aijinca has only played a total of three minutes since December 26th when the Pelicans started playing center Terrence Jones. The deal is still in the works.

The Flyers lost to the Blues Monday night 2-0, in the Flyers second shut out loss in a row. Blues' Kenny Agostino score his first goal in almost 3 years on Monday, as well as Paul Stastny. Blues goalie Carter Hutton who had 26 saves on goal to help seal the Blues victory, and help sealing his first shutout since January 24th. Flyers goalie Michael Neuvirth made only 14 saves for the Flyers, making this his second straight dropped game for the Flyers. The Flyers were also shut out in their last game against the Kings on Saturday (1-0), and the Flyers leading goal-scorers Wayne Simmonds, Brayden Schenn, and Jakub Voracek have not scored in the past 4 games. Next up the Flyers take on the Islanders on Thursday.
