Philadelphia Police are now investigating after a teen was shot at a Recreation Center in South Philadelphia. The shooting took place at Vare Recreation Center on the 1700 block of South 26th Street just after 6 pm. Police say that the teen was shot in the chest and was quickly rushed to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where he is listed in stable condition. Police are still searching for the suspect responsible for the shooting.

Firefighters are now investigating a fire that broke out in Southwest Philadelphia injuring one woman and displacing three families. The fire broke out at around 4 pm on the 2500 block of South 67th street on Wednesday. It took firefighters a half hour to put out the blaze, and the fire damaged three row homes that were on the block. The woman that was taken to the hospital was treated for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Senate has now confirmed former Senator Jeff Sessions as the new attorney general of the United States. The process to confirm Sessions came with quite a protest from Democratic senators. The Republican majority Senate voted 52 votes yes and 47 votes no for Sessions to be confirmed as attorney general. His nomination for attorney general was strongly opposed by Democrats, especially since many critics have stated concerns about Sessions past allegations of racism and his stand on civil rights and immigration.
