MaST Charter Lottery; Banner Hung On Statue Of Liberty; NJ Police Arrest VFW Shooting Suspect

The MaST Community Charter School held their annual enrollment lottery on Tuesday, and many families waited in line for a chance for their kids to be enrolled at one of Philadelphia's most prestigious charter schools. There is only one requirement to enter the lottery, you must live in Philadelphia. Around 9,190 entered the enrollment lottery, but only 96 spots are open for students. MaST Charter School has a great reputation in Philadelphia, it has an award winning math and science programs at the school as well.

A banner that read "Refugees Welcome" was hung up on the base of the Statue of Liberty on Tuesday afternoon. The banner was found by officials at around 1 pm. It was hung up by nylon rope on the public observation deck at the base of the Statue. Officials arrived on the scene and were able to remove the banner without damaging the structure of the statue. An investigation is underway to find the suspects responsible,. Officials remind the public that it is illegal to hang any type of banner or sign on a national monument. See photos below.

New Jersey Police have now arrested a suspect wanted for a shooting in Willingboro, New Jersey. Police have arrested 31-year-old Brandon Washington in connection with the shooting. He was arrested at his residence on the unit block of Pageant Lane in Willingboro. The shooting took place at the VFW Post 4919 on Creekview Road at around 11:30 pm last Thursday during Ladies night. Washington shot two security guards, William Matthews and E. Mark Peterson. Matthews was shot in the head. Both were airlifted to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, and are now in stable condition. Washington has now been charged with two counts of attempted murder, as well as many other charges to be filed.
