A fire at a PECO substation in North Philadelphia is causing power outages for thousands and traffic gridlock in the area. It started around 2 p.m. on the 2600 block of West Westmoreland Street. Over 32,000 customers have lost power and many traffic lights are out causing problems on the streets. Heavy smoke could be seen rising from the station. Hazmat crews were also on scene in addition to the firefighters to deal with materials inside the power station. Temple University also experienced outages including Temple University Hospital, Temple Administrative Services Building and Temple Towers. No injuries have been reported. Power could be out for several hours. See Video Below.

UPDATE: 7:05 p.m. The fire has been brought under control. Firefighters could not begin to tackle the blaze until close to 5 p.m. when power was cut to the entire station and it was de-energized. Widespread outages and traffic problems continue.

Delaware County officials announced on Tuesday that a 20-year-old serial rapist has pled guilty to numerous sexual assaults on children. Hugh Taussig-Lux of Media Borough pled guilty on February 24th to rape of a child, corruption of minors, indecent assault of victims less than 13-years of age, and sexual assault. Police began an investigation into a possible assault on a student and uncovered a whole series of assaults that happened over an 18-month period involving 12 victims ranging in age from 12 to 15-years old. It started in the summer of 2014 and continued until he was arrested on May 25, 2016. Taussig-Lux would interact with students at Glen Providence Park and Media Elementary and convince them to come back to his apartment. He'd also hold parties for the young teens at his place on the 100 block of East Baker Street. They would play video games, and he'd supply them with booze and drugs before taking advantage of them. His victims were both male and female. Hugh Taussig-Lux was sentenced to 13 1/2 to 27 years in prison followed by 8 years probation and a lifetime Megan's Law registration. Police believe there could be additional victims. To report a possible sexual assault, please call Officer Young at 610-565-6656. See photo below.
