The Chester County District Attorney's office announced the deaths of two drug counselors who overdosed on heroin and fentanyl inside the recovery home they managed on Sunday afternoon. Emergency personnel were called to Freedom Ridge Recovery Lodge on Freedom Valley Circle in Wagontown around 2:15 p.m. when residents found the two house managers unresponsive in their rooms. The residents tried to administer naloxone/Narcan, but medics pronounced them dead at the scene. Their identities have not been released but one man was 33 and the other was 25, it was his birthday. Investigators found baggies stamped with a Superman logo and a skull and crossbones with the word 'danger' along with needles. The drugs tested positive for heroin and fentanyl. Freedom Ridge is a recovery house for men. In addition to the two drug counselors who live at the house, there are other six residents. "If anybody is wondering how bad the opioid epidemic has become, this case is a frightening example," Hogan said in the written statement. "The staff members in charge of supervising recovering addicts succumbed to their own addiction and died of opioid overdoses."

The Pennsylvania Senate voted 49-1 to approve a bill that directs state government to comply with 2005 Real ID Law. The House still needs to approve the measure. Governor Tom Wolf is expected to sign the bill if it reaches his desk unchanged. The Real ID act is a federal law that set minimum security standards for forms of identification that are accepted at federal facilities including boarding planes. As most people use a state issued driver's license for their identification, each states must make sure they are compliant with the act. In 2012, Pennsylvania passed a billed called the REAL ID Nonparticipation Act which barred state government or PennDOT from participating in the act. That law must be repealed. Starting June 6th, you must use a compliant ID to enter federal facilities and military bases. January 22, 2018 is the deadline for having a Real ID to fly.

UPDATE: The House passed the Real ID bill by a 190 to 1 vote. Gov. Tom Wolf says he'll sign it.

Jury deliberations will continue today in the trial against David DJ Creato. Creato is accused of killing his 3-year-old son Brendan and dumping him in the woods nearby his New Jersey home. The jury started deliberations late Tuesday following closing arguments. The prosecution contends that Creato killed Brendan because he was getting in the way of his relationship with his new girlfriend. They say he had the means and motive to kill him. The defense argued that the state did not even show exactly how, when, or where Brendan died let alone any evidence DJ killed him. They say there should be enough room for reasonable doubt.
