A young giraffe at the Lehigh Valley Zoo died on Sunday after sustaining neck injuries, only days after arriving at the zoo. The 6-year-old Masai giraffe named Ernie was brought to the zoo this past Friday, along with his father Murphy. Officials at the zoo stated that Ernie had become aggressive with his father and they were separated. The two giraffes were then brought back together on Sunday when Ernie showed minimal signs of aggression, but later became aggressive again and injured his neck. He died on Sunday at 1 pm after sustaining the neck injury. The giraffes were brought in from a Kansas City Zoo to expand the zoo's African animals exhibit. The Lehigh Valley Zoo was planning on opening the new exhibit on the second week of June, there is still no word on if the exhibit opening will be delayed.

Philadelphia Police are now investigating after a 14-year-old boy was shot and killed in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia. The shooting took place at around 9 pm on Monday, near the intersection of Frankford Avenue and Orleans Street. Police arrived on the scene to find the teen with multiple gun shot wounds. The teen was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in critical condition, he was later pronounced dead from his injuries. Police are still searching for the suspect or suspects responsible. The boy has been identified as 14-year-old Tymier Fraiser. A 16-year-old was also injured and is in stable condition.

Officials have arrested a suspect after two undercover SEPTA police officers were offered free samples of heroin early on Monday. The arrest took place along the Market-Frankford Line. SEPTA officials have stated that the undercover cops were offered the drugs while leaving the Kensington and Allegheny station. The undercover officers immediately placed the man under arrest.
