Two New Jersey State Troopers rescued a young boy and a puppy after they were accidentally locked in a hot car in Hammonton Township. It happened on Friday in the Batsto Village. The woman placed her 2-year-old grandson and dog in the backseat of her car and shut the door. When she walked around to the driver's door she noticed the car was locked and her keys were inside on the passenger seat. She dialed 911 and Troopers Jacob Sherry and Steven Hodge responded. Trooper Hodge broke the window and Trooper Sherry removed the boy and dog. They waited in the trooper's air conditioned car until EMS arrived. The boy's vital signs were ok. The New Jersey State Police say, "Secure your keys before placing children and animals in cars."

The northbound Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike was closed for hours this afternoon after a crash involving a tractor-trailer and a box truck. It happened just after 12:30 p.m. between the Lansdale and Quakertown exits. The box truck appeared to have side swiped the tractor-trailer. It then became crushed and stuck underneath the side of the larger vehicle. The driver of the box truck just missed being pulled under the edge of the trailer. However, it took firefighters about an hour to free him from the wreckage. He was taken away by ambulance. No word on the extent of his injuries. The box truck was carrying seat cushions of some kind which were strewn about the road. I-476 northbound reopened around 3:30 p.m. See video below.
