Man Shot In Hunting Park; Elderly Woman Robbed In Mayfair; Suspicious Envelope At IRS Building

Philadelphia Police are now investigating after a man was shot in the head in the Hunting Park section of Philadelphia. The shooting took place on the 3800 block of North Percy Street at around 2 pm on Thursday. When police arrived on the scene they found a 30-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the back of the head. The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital in extremely critical condition. Police are still searching for the suspect or suspects responsible.

Philadelphia Police are now searching for a suspect who threw an elderly woman to the ground and stole her purse in the city's Mayfair section. The incident happened at around 11:20 am on Thursday on the corner of Battersby Street and Tyson Avenue. Police have stated that the suspect approached the elderly woman from behind and threw her to the ground. The suspect then took her purse and fled the scene. The suspect is described as a Hispanic female 5'5 and a heavy build. The elderly woman suffered minor injuries from the assault. Anyone with information are asked to contact the South Detective Division at 215-686-3153/3154.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit and the Department of Homeland Security are now investigating after a suspicious package was found at the IRS building in Philadelphia that was causing several employees to suffer from eye irritation. Crews arrived on the scene at the 2900 block of Market Street at around 10:40 am on Thursday. Officials say that an employee was in contact with a wet envelope that was in the first floor mail room. Many victims stated that they felt an irritation in their eye after coming in contact with the envelope. Authorities are continuing their investigation into what was inside of the envelope.
