2017 Firefly Music Festival Review Day 3 Saturday: Bob Dylan, The Weeknd, Chance The Rapper

It was another glorious day here at the 2017 Firefly Music Festival at the Woodlands at Dover Downs in Dover, Delaware. The morning weather started off strong with high humidity and an even stronger sunshine, but the festival goers did not seem to mind as they got to sing and dance along with some of their favorite artists.

To kick off things at 12:30 pm on the Lawn Stage was another Philly native artist Mondo Cozmo. Cozmo brought the mellow tunes and gave the crowd a nice laid back and relaxed set to start off the day of festivities. Moving over to the Northern Hub Stage at 1:30 pm, another local Philly Artist performed, Chill Moody. Moody brought his A-Game to Firefly this year, bringing his crowd to life through his music.

First up on the Main Stage at 2:30 pm today was the always-entertaining T-Pain. T-Pain brought the crowd to their feet and put on one heck of a show to wake everyone up out of their groggy morning phase. Next to hit the Main Stage at 4:15 pm was rookie artist Bishop Briggs who put on a very humbling and crowd pleasing performance. Briggs was very expressive during her set, you could see her blushing and smiling throughout her time on stage as the crowd was jumping and singing along to her music. She ended off the set with her big hit "River". Briggs put her heart and soul into the performance and the crowd was very pleased.

Moving over to the Pavilion was another Philly native and partner in crime with The Fresh Prince himself, DJ Jazzy Jeff. Jazzy Jeff was spinning disks and moving hips, as he is known to do. He brought the life into the party this afternoon as many of the festival goers were feeling the heat and the blistering sunshine. To kick things off for the headlining acts of the night were Indie electronic band The Naked And Famous. The men and woman of The Naked And Famous were able to get an amazing response from their fans and get them grooving to start off the night, with an impressive show and even better tunes to go with it.

The first headliner of the night to jump on the Main Stage at 8:30 pm was veteran musician Bob Dylan. Dylan and his band took to the stage in a quieter fashion than most of the other headlining artists. Himself and his band were all dressed in tan suits with black shirts. Despite Dylan turning 76 last month, he still knows how to get a crowd on their feet. For many of the festival goers that were in need of a nice relaxing show, they got that while listening to Dylan. The sun was going down and a nice cool breeze graced the hot and sweaty fans. Next up, Kesha took over the Lawn Stage, and Galantis played the Backyard Stage. Both put on high energy shows that helped wake up the festival goers and get them pumped up for the main headliners of the night, The Weeknd and Chance The Rapper.

The final act on the Main Stage at 11:00 pm for Day 3 was The Weeknd, who really knew how to kick things off. The stage had a gigantic pyramid rig of lights that hung above the stage and moved into different positions as he played through each song. The lighting in his show was spectacular, at some points the lights were almost blinding to look at. The Weeknd kicked off his set with his hit single "Starboy" off his new album of the same name. The Weeknd shook the crowd and got them ready and rowdy for non other than Chicago native Chance The Rapper.

Chance took the Backyard Stage at 12:45 pm, and kept the party going into the early morning hours of Sunday. He and his band kicked the set off with "Mixtape" a song off his 2016 Grammy Award winning album "Coloring Book." Chance continued to play more hits from his new album including "Angels", "No Problem", and "Same Drugs", he even featured his verse in DJ Khaled's "I'm The One." Chance took the crowd down memory lane as well and played couple of his older songs off of his 2013 mixtape "Acid Rap." He was very communicative with his crowd as well, talking with them every chance he got between songs. Chance knew the crowd was loving it so he put on an amazing set full of pyrotechnics, confetti and plenty of great music. I'm sure if he was allowed to, he could have played all night for his fans. As his final song ended, the sky lit up with fireworks and brightening the night sky, a perfect way to wrap up Day 3 of Firefly.

All in all it was another great day in the Woodlands at Dover, and I know every one is looking forward to a great last day of Firefly. The top headlining acts on Sunday are Thirty Seconds To Mars, The Shins and Muse.
