The Philadelphia 76ers have officially announced a blockbuster deal with the Boston Celtics that secures the No. 1 overall pick in this year's NBA Draft on Thursday night. The Sixers will send their No. 3 overall pick plus a future first round selection to Boston in exchange for this year's top spot. The Sixers are expected to select 19-year-old Washington guard Markelle Fultz. He averaged 23.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game as a freshman. Last year, the Sixers also selected 1st overall and chose Ben Simmons who was sidelined all season with a foot injury. The future first round pick in this trade has conditions. The Celtics will receive a 2018 pick from the Sixers via the Lakers if it falls between No. 2-5. Otherwise, they will receive the better of the Sixers' 2019 natural pick or their pick via Sacramento unless it is No. 1 at which point the Celtics would get the other one. The 76ers also own 4 second round picks on Thursday's draft.

Gloucester Township police have determined that a woman was not throwing cats from her car. Authorities received a tip on Saturday from someone on Chews Landing Road. They located the owner of the vehicle and found she owns several cats. Upon inspection of the car, they saw several cats housed in the wheel well. The cats could have jumped out while the woman was driving. They do not believe she had any intent to harm the animals. Police searched Chews Landing Road and did not find any injured cats. The SPCA was notified.

Bail was denied today at arraignment for Dr. James Kauffman in an Atlantic City courtroom. Kauffman was arrested last week after brandishing a handgun when FBI agents and local police attempted to execute a search warrant on his offices in Egg Harbor Township. The standoff lasted around 45 minutes until Kauffman surrendered. He is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of hollow point bullets and obstruction of the administration of law. The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office did not say what the raids were about, but that they were not directly related to his wife's murder case. April Kauffman was found shot to death in the couple's home in May 2012. No one has been charged with her murder.
