A woman died Sunday morning after crashing into the Brandywine Valley SPCA in New Castle County, Delaware. It happened around 12:15 a.m. Sunday on the 800 block of South Street in New Castle. Officials say that 33-year-old Latoya Cooper lost control of her vehicle and slammed into the side of the building. The crash resulted in a fire. Firefighters brought it under control within a half hour. SPCA officials say that three cats were killed. 36 cats and 62 dogs, a total of 98 animals, were moved to other locations. The building sustained structural, fire, and water damage including the veterinary clinic. For information on how to donate or adopt go to: Brandywine Valley SPCA’s website. Cooper was a mother of five.

A 6-year-old girl drowned at a hotel pool this weekend in Wildwood, New Jersey. It happened around 4:30 p.m. at the Nantucket Inn and Suites on the 4100 block of Ocean Avenue. The girl had wandered into the deep end and was underwater for several minutes before being discovered. She was pulled out of the pool and given CPR by people at the hotel before medics arrived. The girl was taken to Cape Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. She was on vacation with her family from Philadelphia.

A two-year-old girl was hospitalized after falling from a two-story window in West Philadelphia. It happened around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday on the 800 block of North Markoe Street. The girl was playing with toys in a rear room while her mother was in another room when she fell out of a window that did not have a screen. She was taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and is in stable condition. It appears to have been an accident.
