Person-of-Interest in Missing Men Case; Baby Orangutan Dies at Philly Zoo; Wendy Drive-thru Robbery

A person of interest has been identified in the case of four missing men in Bucks County. 20-year-old Cosmo DiNardo was taken into custody on Monday on unrelated charges stemming from a February firearms possession offense. He was arrested at a home on the unit block of Wayland Circle in Bensalem. It was one of several locations authorities have searched since Sunday night. The DiNardo family also owns a home on Aquetong Road in Solebury Township that was searched on Sunday and a farm on Upper Mountain Road near Route 202 that has been the focus of police activity yesterday and today. DiNardo is not being called a suspect at this time. Bucks County District Attorney says, "Sometimes the chasm between a person of interest, and being a person that is actually accused or arrested, and certainly convicted of a crime, is so wide that we never cross it." DiNardo is being held on $1 million bail. He is accused of possessing a shotgun and ammunition. He has a history of mental illness and has been involuntarily committed before. The four missing men are identified as 22-year-old Mark Sturgis of Pennsburg; 21-year-old Tom Meo of Plumstead; 19-year-old Dean Finocchiaro of Middletown Twp.; and 19-year-old Jimi Tar Patrick of Newtown.

UPDATE: 20-year-old Cosmo DiNardo has been released from jail after posting 10% of $1 million bail.

The Philadelphia Zoo announced that the baby Sumatran orangutan born over the weekend at the zoo has died. The baby was born around 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, July 7th to mother 25-year-old Tua. Zoo staff say the delivery went well without any need for intervention from staff. The baby behaved normally during the afternoon and evening, but died overnight. "In an initial postmortem examination we identified severe congestion in the newborn's lungs and a possible congenital heart defect. We will likely be able to confirm the exact cause of death after the full necropsy results are available, which will take approximately four to six weeks," said Dr. Keith Hinshaw, Philadelphia Zoo's Director of Animal Health. Dr. Andy Baker, the zoo's chief operation officer, says "Zoo staff and volunteers are saddened by this unexpected loss... The keepers who work with the orangutans every day are affected deeply themselves, but will also be watching Tua closely for how she reacts to this loss. Animals are individuals, and we don't know how this will affect her." Tua and the baby's father, 22-year-old Sugi, have an 8-year-old daughter, Batu, that also lives at the zoo.

Philadelphia Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a man and shot him with a pellet gun in a Wendy's drive-thru window in the Fern Rock neighborhood on Philadelphia. It happened early Tuesday morning at Broad and Champlost Streets. The suspect walked up to the victim while he was sitting in his car and demanded money. The suspect then shot the man in the hand with the pellet gun and made off with $7 in cash. The victim refused medical treatment.
