Chester Bennington, lead singer of band Linkin Park, was found dead in his home in the Palos Verdes Estates in Los Angeles, CA on Thursday morning. His body was discovered around 9 a.m. by an employee. He apparently committed suicide by hanging. Bennington was home alone, his family was out of town at the time. He leaves behind a wife and 6 children. The singer was close with Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, who also died by hanging back in May. Today would have been Cornell's 53rd birthday. Bennington did struggle with drugs and alcohol and has admitted to being abused as a child. National Suicide Prevention Hotline, Call 1-800-273-TALK (8255)

OJ Simpson was granted parole by the Nevada Parole Board after a nationally televised hearing midday Thursday. Simpson has been incarcerated in the state of Nevada for nearly 9 years after being found guilty for an armed-robbery in Las Vegas where he tried to retrieve memorabilia and mementos. Simpson recounted those events today saying that he only intended to get property that belonged to him and that he didn't know the men he hired had weapons. At first, it didn't sound like Simpson was accepting responsibility for his actions rather pointing blame at other people, but later in the hearing his statements became more contrite and apologetic. Simpson also received the support of the victim, Bruce Fromong, who testified on his behalf. All four board members voted yes. A release date has not been set. It will happen sometime in October after he completes the minimum of his 9 - 33-year sentence.

A former member of the band Owl City was given two years probation for exposing himself to a child in Atlantic City. The incident happened in August 2013 at the beach. Authorities say that the now 32-year-old Daniel Jorgensen, former guitarist, pled guilty to fourth-degree lewdness with a child. Jorgensen tried to get the girl, who was under 13, to meet him in Atlantic City at the band's tour bus. He communicated with her by phone and e-mail. Owl City was playing at the House of Blues in the Showboat Casino that day. The band fired him in December 2013. He was indicted in August 2015 on charges relating to attempting to lure a child and engaging in criminal sexual contact. The victim spoke the sentencing and told the court how the incident has impacted her ability to lead a normal teenage life. Jorgensen will serve the probation in his hometown of Minneapolis.
