Man Killed On Scooter; Good Samaritan To Be Honored; Man Shoots At N. Phila Home

Philadelphia Police are now investigating after a man was shot and killed in North Philadelphia. The shooting took place on the 2700 block of North 22nd Street at around 5:40 pm. Police say that the 29-year-old man was riding his scooter when he was shot 7 times. The victim's name has not yet been released, and police are still searching for the suspect or suspects responsible.

New Jersey police have stated they are grateful for the actions of a good Samaritan who helped police in a shoplifting case. Police say that a suspect shoplifted some items from the ShopRite in Brooklawn last Wednesday and was heading to the second suspect waiting in a get-a-way car. A police officer chased down the suspect and was struggling to subdue him when 66-year-old John Koch jumped on top of the suspect and held him down. The suspect in the get-a-way car then put the car in drive and hit Koch, throwing him on the hood of the car then off the side of the car. Koch suffered some bruising and the Brooklawn police chief says that the city council will honor Koch for his actions.

Police are searching for a suspect who was seen on a surveillance video firing shots into a North Philadelphia home. The shooting took place on the 200 block of West Thayer Street at around 12:40 am back on Tuesday September 5th. Surveillance footage shows the suspect armed with a gun exit a vehicle and walk over to the home. The suspect was seen fidgeting with the gun, looking like he couldn't get it to fire, then he got it to work and opened fire on the home. The suspect then got away in a red car and was last seen on North 3rd Street. The suspect is described as a black or Hispanic man with tattoos on his entire upper body. Anyone with information is asked to contact the East Detective Division (215-686-3243/3244).
