Hurricane Jose is churning its way up the East Coast. Earlier Tropical Storm watches for coastal portions of New Jersey and Delaware have been canceled but that doesn't mean those areas won't still be affected by the storm. Rough surf and rip tides will continue to be a problem down the shore for the next few days. People are advised to stay out of the water. A coastal flood watch is in effect due to a potential 1-2” storm surge and localized flooding from rain. It will still be breezy with 25-30 mph winds with gusts to 40 mph. Tidal flooding at high tides with the full moon is possible. Beach erosion can be expected. Jose's forcasted track keeps the storm off the coast for the next few days. The trial for a man caught on surveillance video mocking and then sucker punching a man with cerebral palsy outside a West Chester 7-Eleven has been postponed. The trial was set to start today. Barry Baker Jr. of Georgetown, DE, is charged with assault and other charges after he fled following his release on bail. It happened around 2:30 a.m. on May 10th outside the convenience store on the 200 block of South High Street. Baker was walking outside when the victim pulls up and enters the store. Baker can be seen mocking the way the man walked. When the victim leaves the store, Baker continued to mock his disability before walking up to him and punching him in the face. The trial will start in two weeks.

Teachers in the Methacton School District in Montgomery County went on strike this morning. The 403 teachers and staff represented by the Methacton Education Association hit the picket lines at 7:30 a.m. Classes were canceled for the around 5,000 students who attend the district's seven schools. The Methacton School District’s Board of School Directors and the Methacton Education Association were meeting late on Sunday trying to come to a deal, but negotiations broke down over heath care premiums. This left many parents scrambling to accommodate their children. The teachers have been working without a contract since January. A state mediator is now involved. State Department of Education rules prevent the teachers from striking longer than 15 days. For more information and contingency plans from the school district visit: https://www.methacton.org/strike.
