The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland has announced the nominees for the 2018 induction class. This year's ballot includes first time nominees Kate Bush, Dire Straits, Eurythmics, Judas Priest, the Moody Blues, Radiohead, Rage Against The Machine, Nina Simone and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. This is also the first year of eligibility for Radiohead and Rage Against The Machine. The other nominees are Depeche Mode, LL Cool J, MC5, the Zombies, the Meters, the Cars, Link Wray, Bon Jovi, Rufus with Chaka Khan, and J. Geils Band. This is certainly an eclectic representation of 'rock' music including everything from classic and punk to grunge and disco to gospel and hip hop. In order to qualify, acts must have been making music for over 25 years, that means they released their first single or album by 1992. This is the fifth year for the J. Geils Band, the fourth for LL Cool J and The Meters, the third for the Cars, MC5, and the Zombies, and the second appearance for Bon Jovi, Depeche Mode, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, and Link Wray.

Kraftwerk, Bad Brains, Jane’s Addiction, Nine Inch Nails, the Smiths, and Janet Jackson were dropped from last year's ballot.

Ballots are sent to 800 members of the music industry to vote. The Rock Hall selects the top vote getters with at least 50% of the votes for inclusion, usually 5-7 each year. The public also gets a vote. Starting October 5th, https://www.rockhall.com/vote to cast your ballot or vote below. All of the public votes are tallied to create a ballot alongside the industry votes. Voting ends on December 5th. You can vote once per day. The inductees will be announced in December.

Bon Jovi, Kate Bush, The Cars, Depeche Mode, Dire Straits, Eurythmics, J. Geils Band, Judas Priest, LL Cool J, MC5, The Meters, Moody Blues, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, Nina Simone, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Link Wray, The Zombies

Vote for the 2018 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominees starting October 5th.
