An 84-year-old woman is now in critical condition after she was struck by a car in the Fox Chase section of Philadelphia. The incident took place on the 8000 block of Pine Road at around 4:30 a.m. Police say that the woman was struck by a silver Chevy Malibu while she was crossing the street. The 24-year-old driver pulled over and later returned to the scene. He told police that he called 911 from his car. He said that he thought he killed a deer. Police have now taken the suspect into custody for further questioning, no charges have been filed as of yet. The 84-year-old woman was taken to Aria Health Torresdale in critical condition.

UPDATE: 24-year-old Joseph Bradley has been charged with Aggravated Assault while Driving Under the Influence, Aggravated Assault by Motor Vehicle and related offenses.

Tuesday is the deadline to register to vote in Pennsylvania for the upcoming November election. Voters in Philadelphia will elect a new district attorney, city controller, and judges at every level of the court system. Officials say that Republicans sent out an email with the wrong date for the registration deadline, but sent a follow-up correcting the mistake. You can register online at Philadelphiavotes.com or in person at the commissioner's office on Columbus Boulevard and Spring Garden Street.

Philadelphia Police now say that they have brought a suspect into custody for the murder of community activist Winnie Harris. 39-year-old Nelson Giddings has been charged with the murder. Harris was shot and killed last February in her home on the 300 block of North Holly Street. Harris was an outstanding member of the community and was acting director of UC Green, which made efforts to clean up Philadelphia. Giddings was already behind bars for an unrelated matter when he was charged with the murder.
