John McCain Gets Liberty Medal - Live Video; 2 Boys Found in Wilmington; 17yo Girl Dies From Gunshot

U.S. Senator John McCain of Arizona is this year's recipient of the National Constitution Center's 29th annual Liberty Medal. The ceremony will be held today Monday, October 16th, 2017, at 7 p.m. You can watch it LIVE below. McCain joined the Navy in 1958. During Vietnam, his plane was shot down and he was captured, spending years in a Hanoi prison camp. McCain was elected in the House in 1982 and the Senate in 1986. He also ran for President in 2000 and 2008. He is currently battling brain cancer. Former Vice President Joe Biden will present the award to John McCain for his "lifetime of sacrifice and service" to the country. Past recipients include the Dalai Lama, Malala Yousafzai, Muhammad Ali, Nelson Mandela & F. W. de Klerk, and Thurgood Marshall. For more information: https://constitutioncenter.org/liberty-medal

Two young boys were found dead inside their Wilmington, Delaware apartment this morning. Police are now questioning their mother to find out what happened. Authorities were called to the apartment building around 8:30 a.m. Monday morning on the 800 block of West 9th Street near Monroe Street. The mother called police and when they arrived they smelled gas and cleared the area. Officers discovered the 5-year-old and newborn baby boy dead inside. Wilmington Police Chief Robert Tracy said it appeared they drowned. An official determination of cause of death will have to come after an autopsy by the medical examiner. The mother was the only person at home at the time.

A 17-year-old girl has died following a double shooting in Burlington County, New Jersey on Saturday. According to the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office and the Willingboro Township Police Department it happened after 7 p.m. on the unit block of Bermuda Circle in Willingboro Township. Someone opened fire on a group gathered outside a residence. 17-year-old India Simeon was hit in the head and man was hit in the back, both are from Pemberton. The victims were taken to Cooper University Medical Center in Camden. The man was discharged Sunday. Simeon did not make it. She was pronounced dead around 8:15 p.m. Sunday. There is no word on a motive or suspects at this time.
