A mother in Wilmington, Delaware is under arrest and charged in the deaths of two young boys found dead in her apartment yesterday. 30-year-old Kula Pelima is charged with two counts of first degree murder. She has apparently confessed to drowning her 4-month-old son, Solomen Eppelle, and his half brother, 5-year-old Alex Eppelle, in the bathtub. The boys' father, Victor Eppelle, is currently behind bars in York, Pennsylvania. He was arrested on "immigration issues" on October 6th. Police were called to the 800 block of West 9th Street around 8:30 a.m. Monday by Pelima. Officers discovered the two boys in the bathtub. Pelima was the only person home. Responders noticed a gas leak upon arriving and crews came to handle that. Pelima was also apparently worried about her own immigration status. She came to the country from Liberia on a visa in 1997. She is being held on $2 million bail.

The Delaware Department of Justice has announced charges in connection to the deadly riot at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna, Delaware last February. 18 inmates have been charged in total. 16 are facing 1st degree murder and related offenses while two others are facing kidnapping. The incident started on February 1st in Building C. Lieutenant Steven Floyd was killed, Correctional Officers Winslow Smith and Joshua Wilkinson were injured, and counselor Patricia May was held hostage. All of the defendants have remained incarcerated in Delaware correctional facilities since February 2nd. Nine are already serving sentences for murder or manslaughter. The prisoners were protesting housing conditions. See list of those charged below.

Three Albright College football players who were removed from the team are being allowed to return. The Division III school in Reading, PA cut the players for not properly participating in pregame ceremonies according to team plans citing the "team’s shared commitment to unity." It was reported that the team decided to kneel during the coin toss and stand during the national anthem at the Oct. 7th game vs. Delaware Valley University. Backup QB Gyree Durante knelt during the anthem and two other players didn't kneel during the coin toss. In an open letter on the Albright College website, President Jacquelyn S. Fetrow wrote, "Ongoing review of the details surrounding the game's events has provided greater clarity. What we understood to be shared agreement among players, student leaders, and coaches has not been adequately supported. As a result, each of the students dismissed from the football team for failure to comply with the team's shared agreement established for that day has been offered reinstatement to the team." She continued, "While we focused on the issue of trust and shared agreement on a football field, much larger issues of social and racial injustice were brought into the spotlight. These must be addressed."
