Radee Prince Captured After MD/DE Shootings; Racist Pumpkins in Coatesville; Schuylkill Trail Camera

A man wanted for killing 3 people and injuring 3 others in shootings in Maryland and Wilmington, DE this morning is now in custody. 37-year-old Radee Labeeb Prince was captured by federal ATF agents in Newark, DE on Wednesday night. Wilmington Police found his 2008 black GMC Acadia around 7 p.m. The shooting started around 9 a.m. when Prince arrived at work at Advanced Granite Solutions in the Emmorton Business Park in Edgewood, MD. He shot and killed three and wounded two others with a handgun before fleeing. Those 2 remain in critical condition. Prince drove to 28th Street Auto Sales and Service in the 2800 block of Northeast Boulevard in Wilmington, DE where he shot and wounded another person. That victim is alert and conscious. Prince has a lengthly criminal history and knew each of his victims.

The Coatesville Area School District and Police Department in Cheater County are investigating after a photo has been circulating on social media showing possible Coatesville High School students standing behind pumpkins carved with racist symbols. The photo (see below) shows several students standing behind a row of pumpkins, two of which are carved with a swastika and KKK symbols. Hundreds of students left school early and joined parents in a protest. The district said in a statement, “It's reprehensible and intolerable, and this photo causes deep sadness and concern. We work extremely hard to promote a tolerant, respectful, inclusive learning environment, and this is in direct opposition to everything we stand for and believe in.” Those students face possible academic discipline. A few weeks ago, the school canceled the remainder of the cross country season for another “racially insensitive” involving an ethnic doll.

The City of Philadelphia began installing 21 new security cameras along the Schuylkill River Trail. Crews began by digging trenches on Wednesday. Funds for the $150,000 project came from both Councilman Kenyatta Johnson and Council President Darrell Clarke's offices. These cameras are being installed on the Schuylkill Banks section of the trail. Right now the cameras will only record activity and will not be monitored live. Hopefully the presence of the new cameras will dissuade assaults and robberies that happen and at least help police solve crime.
