Montgomery County police have placed a man into custody after they found thousands of child pornography images on his computer. 28-year-old Zachary Geib was arrested after police had a search warrant to investigate his home in Schwenksville. An investigation began after a tip came in of a child pornography image that was posted online. Officials were able to track down the IP address to Geib's home. Geib told police that he was the only one to have used that computer and he viewed the images while intoxicated. Geib's computer was seized by police and they have stated that nearly 3,000 explicit images of children were found on the computer. Geib was arraigned on Tuesday and has now been released on $100,000 unsecured bail.

The Philadelphia School Reform Commission (SRC) voted on Thursday to dissolve and end its authority, which will give control of Philadelphia schools back to city officials. The vote was tallied 3 to 1 with one abstention in favor of dissolving the SRC. Mayor Jim Kenney, along with a local school board to be appointed by Kenney and approved by City Council, will now replace the SRC. The SRC was put in place 16 years ago after officials declared the school system was distressed, but with the Secretary of Education expected to name the school system no longer in distress it will return back to city control. The 13 new school board members are set to be named in late February or early March. The SRC will officially be disbanded starting on June 30th, 2018.

Philadelphia Police are now investigating after an 80-year-old man was found dead inside his Port Richmond home on Wednesday night. Police say that the victim, Robert Girard, suffered multiple stab wounds and was found dead in his home on the 2500 block of East Lehigh Avenue. Police say that there was no sign of forced entry and nothing was taken from the home. They questioned one man who had been living in a white van parked outside on the street for weeks, but as of now police have nothing to tie him to the murder. Police are now asking for the help of Girard's neighbors to see if they saw anyone in the past couple of days go in or out of the home and if Girard had any current disputes.
