The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH, announced next year's inductees to the hall. Leading the way are Bon Jovi and Nina Simone. This was the second year the New Jersey rockers were on the ballot, the first was in 2011. This was the first year of eligibility for the soulful Simone. Also selected after appearing on the ballot for the first time were The Moody Blues and Dire Straits. Finally, classic rockers The Cars will also be inducted next year. This was their third nomination. Sister Rosetta Tharpe will receive the Award for Early Influence. Tharpe was inducted into the Philadelphia Walk of Fame by the Philadelphia Music Alliance this past October.

The other nominees eligible this year included: Kate Bush, Eurythmics, Judas Priest, Radiohead, Rage Against The Machine, Depeche Mode, LL Cool J, MC5, the Zombies, the Meters, Link Wray, Rufus with Chaka Khan, and J. Geils Band.

Artists are first considered eligible for inclusion 25 years after their first release. Ballots are sent to 900 members of the music industry to vote. The Rock Hall selects the top vote getters with at least 50% of the votes for inclusion, usually 5-7 each year. The public also gets a vote. All of the public votes are tallied to create a ballot alongside the industry votes. The 33rd Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 in Cleveland, and will be broadcast at a later date on HBO.

2018 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees. Bon Jovi, Nina Simone, The Moody Blues, Dire Straits, The Cars, Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
