Authorities say that a shooting that left two people dead in Northampton has been declared a murder-suicide. The shooting took place on the 300 block of West 27th Street at around 9:45 pm on Tuesday. Police say that 45-year-old Matthew Eberhardt shot and killed his wife, Kristin Eberhardt, before turning the gun on himself. One of the bodies was found on the front yard of the home. Officials say that two children were in the home at the time of the shooting, but they were unharmed.

Philadelphia Police are now searching for three men who are wanted for breaking into a store in the Olney section of Philadelphia. The suspects were seen on surveillance video lurking around the store. Investigators say that they got in through the basement. The three suspects took a plastic jar containing $600 in coins. The suspects also took 70 packs of cigarettes, six boxes of cigars, security equipment, and a laptop.

The Philadelphia Water Department has now released ways to prevent your pipes from freezing during the cold streak that has been sweeping the area. Officials say to let the faucet run at a trickle overnight and it will only cost pennies to run. Another way is to wrap and insulate all water pipes in unheated areas such as your basement or crawlspace. Also, pay close attention to pipes near exterior walls in kitchens or bathrooms. If your pipes end up freezing there are steps you can take to fix the issue. One of them is to use an electric space heater or a hair dryer on the area around your meter and the frozen pipe to thaw it out. You can also use hot pads or towels wrapped around the pipe. Officials say to make sure the faucet stays on so the melting water can drop out. Do not use propane or gas heaters or propane torches to heat pipes as they may cause a fire.
