President Donald Trump addressed the nation tonight to announce "precision strikes" in Syria in response to a chemical weapon attack on civilians last weekend. "A short time ago, I ordered the United States Armed Forces to launch precision strikes on targets associated with the chemical weapons capabilities of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad," Trump said. It is a joint operation with both France and the United Kingdom. All three countries independently confirmed that Syria's attack last week was a chemical attack, specifically chlorine. Specific Syrian targets associated with the storage and production of chemical weapons were hit. The goal of the one time attack is to deter and punish President Bashar Assad for using chemical weapons. Watch video of address below.

A K-9 officer and his longtime handler have been reunited after a controversial separation earlier this year. SEPTA Police Officer Richard Galanti and K-9 Abal have worked together for the past 5 years. Abal lived with the Galanti family in their Wenonah, New Jersey home. Recently, SEPTA told Galanti that he was going to be transferred out of the K-9 unit and Abal was taken to a kennel before being reassigned to another officer. The family offered to pay the hefty fee to have a new K-9 trained so they could keep the dog. An online petition also garnered thousands of signatures. SEPTA denied the requests. Serendipitously, a veterinary checkup revealed Abal had developed a degenerative bulging disc in his spine. “Due to the strenuous nature of the work required of a dual-purpose explosive detection and patrol K9, SEPTA, in consultation with the doctors at Penn, today made the decision to retire Abal from active duty.” The Galanti family will be able to adopt him after all.

Vincent Medley is no longer the executive director of the Animal Care and Control Team of Philadelphia or ACCT Philly. ACCT is located in Hunting Park and provides the City of Philadelphia animal care and shelter services on contract. They released this statement:

"By way of mutual agreement, Vincent Medley is no longer employed at ACCT Philly effective Friday, April 13, 2018. Mr. Medley made important contributions to the organization since 2015. We appreciate his service to the organization, particularly in helping it reach a historic life-saving rate of 84 percent in 2017 and 88 percent so far in 2018.

The Administration and ACCT Philly Board wish Mr. Medley well in his future endeavors. We will conduct a national search for a permanent replacement. Operations Director Audra Houghton will serve as interim Executive Director."
