Officials were at the scene of a building collapse and possible explosion in Point Breeze on Monday night, 4/23. It happened after 7:30 p.m. on the 1200 block of South 20th Street. Witnesses heard a loud boom and saw the front facade of the row home fall off of the building and onto the sidewalk and street below. A 57-year-old man and his 12-year-old son were inside the home at the time. The father was on the second floor and ended up on the first floor. Both only suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene. The home is actually attached to the 17th Police District and a fire station so emergency crews arrived immediately. However, those buildings have also been deemed unstable and are closed until they can be inspected. Fire officials and PGW are investigating the cause of the collapse.

Two people were found dead inside a home in Radnor Township, Delaware County on Monday evening, 4/23. It happened on Lowrys Lane, normally a very quiet side street off of Lancaster Ave, just a short distance to the campus of Villanova University. Radnor police say that they believe this is a murder-suicide. They have not identified the victims, but neighbors say they recently moved into the house. Officials are still investigating the scene.

Montgomery County authorities have charged a Bucks County man with homicide by vehicle DUI after he crashed his speeding car earlier this month into the side of a home, killed an 86-year-old woman sleeping in her bed. 21-year-old Joseph Bezanis of Telford has been charged with homicide by vehicle DUI, DUI, reckless endangerment of other persons, reckless driving and other charges related. The accident happened just after midnight on April 6th on the 300 block of Harleysville Pike. Bezanis was driving a 1995 Toyota around 83 mph. He crossed several lawns and crashed straight through the side of Marianne Lambert's home. She was asleep in a first floor bedroom and was pronounced dead at the scene. His blood alcohol level was .172 and toxicology shows the presence of THC. Bail was set at $100,000 unsecured. "The defendant's decision to use marijuana as well as drink at a local bar turned deadly when he got behind the wheel of his vehicle and drove impaired," said Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele. "The defendant turned his vehicle into a lethal weapon that killed a grandmother as she was sleeping in her bed. His actions have left a family without a matriarch and have forever affected their feelings of safety in their own home."
